Touch

Outside school every Wednesday I play touch I play for the papanui tigers. To be honest there not the best but I still play for them don't know why but next year I'm going to try play school touch. Cause I don't like my team there to demanding for the ball and I usually never get it because im dummy.  Dummy is the person who gets the ball from the person who got touched and is forced to pass unless he runs and gets touched then which the enemy team gets it. When I try for school i should get the ball a bit more but overall I still have to go to my touch for a few more games which is fine with me.

Swimming lessons

At swimming lessons I was in the lowest group. It doesn't matter that much to me  it was fun in the deep pool I could barely touch the bottom flat foot. My group did have to go in the warm little kids pool sometimes not sure why but when it was a cold day and we got to go in the warm pool it was fun. On the last few days we had life jackets which were really cold to put on but when they were on it was fine on Thursday we got to do the boat thing I was the captain because I was at the head of the boat on the last day we did pyjamas day I was sick so didn't go but I heard it was fun.

Stress Balls Sell Fast

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about design and the big question was; How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?

First we learned what STEAM stood for.
S for Science
T for Technology
E for Engineering
A for the Arts
and M for Maths
Then we were given challenges. The first to make a chair using newspaper, string and straws that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link blocks.
Then; make a table that was able to balance MnMs for the team. We were much better at the second challenge because … we were desperate for the m&m’s

In Literacy we learned to write up science experiments and to write a technology report using the design process of ask, imagine, plan, create, improve and share.

Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again.
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product? Our aim was to create enough products or experiences and sell it to raise money for charity.

Reflection

My highlight from this PBL was we worked as a team and talked about stuff and discussed what was happening next and it was fun
Next time I would…  bring more supplies so we could make more items.

PBL Market day

For this year of pbl we have been doing little challenges.
But they were easy  we had a group/steam teams then when  we moved on to something much harder I guess. We are doing a market sale my group are making stress balls don't know how my group came up with idea but I liked it. I was away that day when they came up with it we are making them with flour and beads. For  1.00 a stress ball the market day is 4th December and starts at 10.00 AM -2.00 PM

Performance blog

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about cultural stories and the big question was;

What is the significance in the 21st Century of our Cultural stories?

First we brainstormed what culture is and came up with lots of ideas. Culture is Family and celebrations……

Then we thought about our own culture and talked to our parents about our traditions and heritage. I wrote a post about my family and things we like to do.

In Literacy we read and discussed myths and legends from around the world then we concentrated on Maori legends. I read anansi brings stories to the world and crow brings daylight and maui tames the sun….

We made a performance about the story Battle of the Mountains. Some students wrote the script, some students took on the job of making all the artwork, some worked hard on organising the music and others took on the role of bringing the story alive with dance and drama.

For our production I contributed by… Dancing I was in the battle and it’s exciting 

I think the show might impact on others by...dance and helping others showing their true self

What I learned about working with others was...teamwork and synchronization and helping out 

my experience with swimming

I had fun at swimming but i would like to swim without a   lesson. Overall it was fun and exiting im year 6 so im technically in the big pool. But im really short so the end was hard but we had life jackets one day. And next we went on a boat to show us if we fell off a boat in the ocean. That was pretty cool we had life jackets so it was at the deep end so we didn't you know drown. Really fun experience but it was two weeks which was long but fun. 

Battle of the mountains

The Maori legend, “The Battle of the Mountains.”

The great mountain Tongariro felt uneasy as he looked across the gap at the scowling faces of Taranaki, Tauhara and Putauaki. He knew they were about to challenge him for the love of Pihanga.

Pihanga stood straight and still, sad at the situation that was brewing, for gentle was the nature of this beautiful lady who wore the fragrant cloak of the piki kaiarero.

Meanwhile Ruapehu and Ngauruhoe played, happy in the innocence of childhood, oblivious to the mounting tension around them.

The restless mountains hovered nearby, each preparing to claim Pihanga as his bride. But Tongariro stood in their way.

Tongariro, the tuakana, the eldest, watched, his eyes steady as each of the rival mountains stepped up and issued their challenge. Then, with the formalities over, the war began!

Loud rumblings rattled from deep inside of Taranaki. The ground shook with his passion, and out of his top knot flew red hot rocks that careered straight at the waiting Tongariro.

Retaliating immediately, Tongariro let out a deafening roar and sent boulders of fire hurtling back at Taranaki. Putauaki and Tauhara, seeing their chance, came from behind while Tongariro’s attention was diverted. Great flows of boiling lava came spilling out of their craters and rushed wildly at Tongariro’s back.

Pihanga’s warning gasp alerted the agile mountain, who quickly sidestepped the boiling rovers of volcanic spew.

The battle raged on. The earth shook and the air was thick with sulphurous fumes. Fierce was the fight for the beautiful Pihanga.

A mighty blow from Taranaki sent the topknot of Tongariro flying through the air and it landed with a tremendous splash in the great lake nearby. And still the deafening

Sports for school

I play basketball for the school and we used to do rugby but that's ended and now i focus on basketball.

I really like basketball but im not the best not everyone likes me either. I made it in to the A team which is the highest there is B and C team i think not sure. But we play on Thursdays and practice at school on Mondays we have lost 2 or 3 times im not sure how many. I think we have a good team to play this year it is the 3 term in the whole year and next term is the last term of school. Which im pretty exited about it even tho it's a  long time. But all and all i love basketball i think im going to play next term that's my blog hope you enjoyed it. Do you   like basketball?

Fortnite

Fortnite is a fun game i like playing it is mobile and you can play duos with a friend or squads with 3 friends. You can play on xbox one and ps4 i have never played it i just know lots about it. There is a new thing called the lighting cube and if you shoot it will attack you and if you hit it with pickax you will go flying in the air. People can troll if you shoot it from a distance with a sniper or hunting rifle it will attack the nearest person and it will kill them and it counts as a kill for you. Fortnite is cool and stuff but there  is a bad part  people will pay lots of many for skins and v bucks.Which is like money the game were you can buy stuff like skins gliders pickax and some other stuff. But people will buy v bucks for like 100 dollars and then buy all the stuff in the shop. well  my blog didn't cover much of the game but hope you enjoyed.

Follow up story

                   The Meerkats
In the Tumu hub we have been learning about speech marks and apostrophes.

There were meerkats sleeping then one got up and saw a nice fruit to eat.He decided to wake up his friends "Wake up!"

So all the friends got up and got out and looked at the majestic fruit. So they climbed than one said “Let's get it” so they climbed it but didn’t know that a vulture was above them!

The vulture took the fruit but the meerkats didn’t give up they made like a ladder and got on the vulture. And he didn’t like that so get angry and he lost the fruit. Then the meerkat got the fruit  and started passing it so the vulture couldn't get it.

Then they passed it to the vulture and he hit a mountain and then the meerkats got the fruit and ran away passing it and then dropped it.
